Helsinki has one of the strongest safety reputations in Europe. It is clean, organised, highly walkable, well connected and generally calm. But that does not mean the Finnish capital is completely free of crime or urban problems. In 2025, Helsinki Police and the city reported that 90% of residents felt safe in Helsinki overall. At the same time, authorities highlighted a more complicated picture: youth crime had fallen significantly, while drug-related disturbances and some f
