1. The route test
Write down the exact visa category—not “UK visa,” “Canada work permit,” or “Europe.”
Then find that category on the destination government’s official website. Confirm:
who can apply;
whether a job offer is required;
salary or occupation rules;
funds required;
application fee;
where the application is submitted.
If the agent cannot name the category, there is no route to verify.
2. The employer test
For a job offer, independently verify the employer:
search the company’s official website and registration;
call the number published on the company’s own website, not only the number in WhatsApp;
confirm the job exists on the employer’s careers page;
verify the sponsor licence or authorization where the destination publishes a register;
ask for a contract showing employer, role, salary, location, hours, and conditions.
A letterhead is not proof. A PDF can be made in minutes.
3. The representative test
For Canada, verify the consultant in the official College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants register. For the UK, verify the adviser through the appropriate regulated channel. A nice office, social-media followers, or “connections” do not equal authorization.
Demand:
legal business name;
physical address;
written service agreement;
itemized fee;
refund terms;
official receipt;
the exact work they will perform.
Paying a personal account or cash without a receipt is a stop sign.
4. The document test
Never buy or rent:
bank statements;
employment letters;
certificates;
invitation letters;
visa approvals;
“pre-booked” embassy appointments.
If your application depends on a false document, the cheap shortcut can become a fraud finding and a long-term immigration problem.
5. The portal test
If someone says the application was submitted, request:
the official application number;
a copy of the submitted forms;
the payment receipt;
the official portal account or a verifiable authorization arrangement.

Start a folder containing:
passport and civil documents;
education and credential records;
employment letters with dates, title, duties, and salary;
tax and business records where relevant;
six months of bank history;

every agent contract and receipt.
